Next Steps for New Families

You’re All Registered, Now What?

1

Purchase
a Uniform

Families who wish to join the Troop are encouraged to attend weekly meetings while your registration is pending. Scouts are expected to wear their Class A uniform to every Scout meeting from September through May. Scouts must also wear their full Class A uniform while traveling to and from a campout or activity, during a Board of Review, and at any Court of Honor or other important Scout-sponsored event. Adult Volunteers who plan to serve as an Assistant Scoutmaster, attend summer camp, or simply want to show support for Scouting, will also need a Class A uniform.

  • A “Class A” uniform consists of a uniform shirt (tucked in), uniform pants/shorts, neckerchief, a scout belt, and socks. Scout uniforms can be purchased locally at the Northern Virginia Scout Shop or through these NCAC Scout Store resources. You will not need to buy the numerals patch (“128”) or the neckerchief since those items are provided by the Troop when you join.

  • A “Class B” uniform is a Scout t-shirt worn during the summer months (June through August) and other activities. These are any Scout-related t-shirts. We have Troop 128 t-shirts for sale in the Apparel Shop.

Sign Up for Members Only Website Access

To access things like the Troop calendar, event registration, the directory, and other helpful resources, you will need to sign-up for our members-only website access. Navigate to the desired members-only sites: Boys’ Troop Members, Girls Troop Members, Crew Members.

You will be instructed to sign up for a membership. The paywall will indicate a $1,000 charge, but you will not have to pay for this. Instead, ask your Scoutmaster for the current discount code to apply at checkout to make this access free. From there, you will be able to access all of our Troop information. Feel free to sign up with as many usernames and logins as you need for your family.

3

Add Your Family to Our Youth Directory

Once you are logged in to the Members Only areas, go to Directory in the dropdown menu. You will see all of the youth in the Boys’ Troop, Girls’ Troop, and/or Crew.

We use Community Box to power our Troop Directory. To add your family, click the Add button and follow the prompts to set up a Community Box account. Then, create a new directory entry for each child in the Troop. Your child’s profile will be displayed in the Directory after the Webmaster reviews and approves the information. If you need to make edits, simply log back in to your Community Box account by clicking Account.

The Troop 128 directory is a valuable resource intended solely for communication related to Troop activities and Scouting events. We kindly ask that all members use it respectfully, refraining from sharing personal information outside of the troop or for non-scouting purposes. Let's maintain our sense of community by keeping this tool focused on fostering connection and participation within Troop 128.
